Re: Please help- months without answers- abdominal/bladder pain

i had the same symtoms too. painful urination, pain in the pelvic area, lower right hand side and into my groin and back. the pain in the lower right hand side didn't come till many many months later after the painful urination. it starts with the painful urination and it's as if you have to squeeze to get your urine out. plus frequent urination during the day.

one morning I woke up with an aching feeling that eventually got worst so I went to the ER thinking I had apendicitis. they did a ct scan and found out my kidney was swollen and so was the uerouter which the radiologist couldn't rule out a kidney stone.
the dr ordered the cat scan with contrast to check for apendix, therefore the contrast blocked the veiw to the radiologist to see clearly if it was a stone or not. they told me I had to see a specialtist the next day and gave me a script for pain meds. I was supposed to get a specific test done called an IVP. they test the kidneys with injecting a special dye and it's like an xray. something like that. I never had the test performed. I have no insurance because I"m currently out of work.
I don't have the painful urination anymore and I don't have the pain in the groin which the er doctor said that it's common area to be painful if you're have a kidney stone that's passing. I still have sensitity to my back area where the kidney lays, so it must have been a very small stone and I didn't even realize I had passed it.
I still don't know to this day if my kidney and tube are swollen still but I"m keeping any eye on things.
If I were you, I'd ask to have your kidneys tested. you may have a small stone too.
good luck and i hope we hear back from you to let us know what happened.

I wish you well,
Linda

Re: Please help- months without answers- abdominal/bladder pain

I have/had all the symptoms you are having and its from ovarian cysts. I don't disagree on getting your kidneys checked but definitely go to the gyno. I have the pressure and pain and the frequent urination. Went on tons of antbiotics thinking it was a UTI and it was cysts. I'm on birth control hoping to get rid of them! Good Luck!

My most recent issue has been intense pain/cramping/aching in the lower abdomen- not particularly on one side or the other- just overall- accompanied by vaginal pain/ache, bladder pressure, feeling of having to use the restroom, pain during or just when finishing urinating during the episode and at times after. Nausea as well. Sometimes it takes 20 minutes to pass other times it can take hours and all I can do is lay on the floor and hope it goes away soon.

So far I have stumped the medical world apparantly and I can't take it anymore- something is going on- I'm not imagining this intense pain and bizarre feelings in my body

Can anyone help???

Re: Please help- months without answers- abdominal/bladder pain

I'm not sure that I can be of help, but I can tell you about me. I suffered terrible abdominal pain FOR YEARS, different symptoms -side pain (ACUTE), discharge, sometimes with strong odor. Days without being able to get out of bed, chronic lower back pain, painful intercourse, and so many other things. Every doctor I went to said it was woman's pain, after two c sections, what could I expect, yes, some cysts, but not enough for the discomfort I was having, they said. I was put on pain killers, they helped, some, but it took more and more, finally, GOD blessed me with a fantastic OBGYN. I walked in, he never even took my clothes off. He said I had a (it was very technical, i don't remember word for word), but it was a tilted uterus, it put pressure on my lower back, bladder, I had kidney pain, and sex was an absolute nightmare, I felt like I was being raped, and I LOVE my husband, and it didn't just hurt when we wre doing it, but for days after.
Finally, after four years, and three jobs, I finally got a job with good insurance, I got a complete abdominal hysterectomy on Feb. 07. I had terrible bladder spasms in the beginning, he put me a detrol la, it helped, a lot.
Most doctors do not give women's issues the consideration we are due. My doctor's name is Dr. Thomas Watson Jernigan, from Johnson City TN, he is my hero, and he saved my sanity, and my marriage. Good luck, and God Bless.
