Can high cholesterol cause ED? does anyone know?

High cholesterol can reduce blood flow to your penis, causing ED. Men with high cholesterol have 2x the chance of ED as those with normal lab values. You may also have high blood pressure which is also a contributing factor.

The short answer is yes. The three main culprits are high blood pressure, diabetes, and high cholesterol. The first two are much more common than HC.

okay thanks...my blood pressure is actually good but my cholesterol is very high (279)... can that alone contribute then?

Yes, it is possible. Of the 3 ED drugs, Levitra is directly marketed to men with the 3 main causes of the ailment.

If you can tolerate HC meds (statins), it should improve your condition. I take Mevacor (generic Lovastatin) along with a Beta Blocker HBP drug. Mevacor is an older Merck drug that is not as strong as Zocor or Lipitor.

In fact, the Journal of Sexual Medicine found that Viagra was much more effective when taken with Lipitor. Theoretically, any combo of statin and ED drug could have the same effect.
