Yes, that's it exactly. It's obviously a very rare condition, which doctors both in Britain and America don't know - we just have to hope it's nothing to worry about!

Re: Body vibrating!

Hi!

Boy was I relieved to find this post!
Over the past couple of weeks I've been waking around 4am with my chest vibrating. A couple of times I've almost gone to the hospital to have it checked but I did fall back to sleep and when I woke it had stopped and I didn't think about it anymore.

This afternoon I was sitting in the kitchen and couldn't figure out what was vibrating. Then I went to my office and when I sat in my chair I could still feel the vibration. Like someone else said, it feels like a minor earthquake vibration.
It's been going on now for about 2 hous and it's driving me crazy! I also feel lightheaded.

Like others have mentioned, I am about 30 lbs overweight and 55 yrs old. I'm reluctant to call my Dr. because he's been trying to figure out for the past 3 years what the pain I have in my upper abdomen is. No one has been able to figure that one out and this one sounds even more weird!

Someone mentioned meds.........I'm taking Gabapentin (generic for neurontin) for nerve pain related to Shingles which I developed a couple of weeks ago (at least they could diagnose this one!). I also take thyroid medication which now that I'm thinking of it, I forgot to take this morning. Is anyone else on those meds? Also, I only got 2 hours of sleep last night as I was in Atlantic City and stayed up all night!! Just thought I'd mention these details to see if anyone else has had similar situations. This is the first time I've noticed this during the day. Hope that doesn't mean it's getting worse!

Sure hope we can find some kind of connection here........ Love this getting old stuff!

Annie

Lets’ try and see if we can establish common factors for all of us?

1. With me, it ONLY happens a few seconds after I wake up. If I wake up several times, it happens each time.

2. I’m about... ahem... 60lbs overweight. But it’s all muscle. Honest.
3. I’m 52.

4. I take Trandolapril (ACE Inhibitor for blood pressure) and Dothiapen (Dosulepin, Prothiaden) which is a mildly sedative antidepressant.
5. I drink too much.

Anybody else what to vote?

Keep shaking
Roger

Re: Body vibrating!

Latest – I've been taking amiodarone (a sort of chemical defibrillator) for the last few nights, and my symptoms are not quite but almost gone. This suggests two possibilities: (1) I have a heart problem, which manifests as atrial fibrillation; (2) whatever muscles are fluttering if it ISN’T the heart (muscles being pretty much the only things that CAN flutter) are also controlled by the drug.

I hope it's the latter... as such a condition appears to be unknown in medicine, I feel that maybe the drug’s ability to control it may be unknown too.

Perhaps my many years of alcohol abuse are finally catching up with me.

Re: Body vibrating!

I have seasons when I experience vibrating in my neck and head at night. Last night it occurred several times through the night, 4 or 5 times. I can feel the vibrating in my neck with my hand. I am 54 yr old and take no meds. Weight is ok. I have had 8 children. I thought the vibrating was caused by pinched nerves and just move into another position. I prefer a flat down pillow but find a thicker one usually helps. Also upping my sublingual B vitamins usually helps. I have not seen a doctor. I just found this thread today!
