anyone tried/use Cymbalta?

I am considering asking my doc about Cymbalta since my insurance no longer covers Prozac. I'm just inquiring about others' experience with it.
Anyone who uses/has used it please give me your take on it?
THANKS!

Re: anyone tried/use Cymbalta?

Tried it and for me it didnt work. But i have been 'on just about every medication out there' according to my psyc. and they dont work or work for a very short time. The best ones for me in the past were zoloft and celexa but everyone is different i could not tolerate the 2 year long effects of paxil, or prozac. Good luck

Re: anyone tried/use Cymbalta?

I tried it, but had a little vertigo w/ it. I was only on it for two weeks. I had panic attacks 6 months ago & was originally on Paxil. I've been off everything for about 3 weeks & am doing fine. I'll wait & see if things change & i may consider trying Cymbalta again. kd

Re: anyone tried/use Cymbalta?

I've always thought Cymbalta looked like a good drug to try, but I'm on Zoloft and that's working for me, so no need to make changes.

Anyway, the reason why is because it takes care of two things in the brain, I guess? Got this from the Cymbalta site... http://www.cymbalta.com/depression/about/about.jsp?reqNavId=3

"Cymbalta is a balanced and selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SSNRI)."

The older antidepressants (Anafranil, etc.) were mostly norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors and the newer ones are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors... So, it just seemed like the combination of those two would be a good thing?

Sorry for all the big words... Hehe. Just wanted to help...

I'd try it...

Re: anyone tried/use Cymbalta?

I am currently on Cymbalta and it has really, really worked for me. I was in the hospital and my doctor put me on it due to the physical pains that I was dealing with in my depression and anxiety. I had headaches, backaches, neckaches, and a run down physical feeling. Within a few days, I began to feel better.

But as everyone else is saying, ADs work differently for different people.

I also take Neurontin-- pain/anxiety, seroquel-- for anxiety (non addicting) and wellbutrin. This cocktail works for me.

Good luck! Give cymbalta a try!

be well.
