Question Are inhaled steroids addicting?

One day I went in to the Urgent Care at the VA Hosp because I was tight.
I had never had a bad Asthma attack. They gave me Albuteral Treatments and Predizone. They sent me home with Albuteral, something to mix with it and more Predizone. I finished the Predizone and then I started having bad Asthma attacks like I have never had in my life and now I am on inhaled steroids and still have back attacks. What the heck? I'm wondering if these steroids got me addicted and that's why I need them. I had only ever had Bronchitis.

Re: Are inhaled steroids addicting?

I'm a little confused by your post. In one place you said you never had a bad asthma attack and in another said that you had never had an asthma attack at all.

At any rate, no, the steroids are not addictive. You are having attacks either because you still have bronchitis or you have asthma and it's not under control.

Have you seen a pulmonologist for asthma testing?

Re: Are inhaled steroids addicting?

They started me on steroids before I had my very first asthma attack. Before the steroids, I had just been tight. Does that explain it better?

Yes, but tightness can be asthma or bronchitis or many other things. Did you see a pulmonologist for asthma testing? If not, who said you had asthma?

Re: Are inhaled steroids addicting?

I haven't seen the polmonologist yet but my doctor called him and he told her to put me on Asmanex, and 2 kinds of inhalers and a pill to control the Asthma until he saw me. The ER said it was Asthma. You just don't understand and I'm trying as hard as I can to explain it to you. I was tight before I started the steroids but I got my tighter AFTER I started the steroids and I started having horrible chest pain AFTER I started the steroids, not before.
