Re: 9 days no oxy!

I don't know if you are a pain sufferer, but I would ask your doctor about NORTRIPTYLINE i hear it's an old school anti-depressent, they have used it with peeps with chronic pain. I've been taking it for two weeks and am starting to feel something....suppose to take up to 4 weeks to take affect, but no side affects......I think it's great.

Re: 9 days no oxy!

My partner has recently been prescribed zoloft for OCD and this drug has a very well-known side effect of causing male impotence and the complete inability to have an orgasm. We have since had to wean him off the zoloft to try another drug for hisb OCD. While this sort of discussion might be off topic for the addiction forum, since the original poster asked about different antidepressents and was a male, I felt he should know about this possibility with zoloft.

Re: 9 days no oxy!

Celexa works well for me, with no side effects. Had many disasterous side effects with Effexor, Cymbalta, Paxil... Also another old school anti depressant called Amitryptyline (Elavil) helps for chronic pain and sleep. I used it in the past and the only side effects were little red spots on my skin- which were harmless.

Congrats on your 9 days. I am on 9 days free of Kadian and Norco, and am still getting some anxiety and sweats, however I feel some of the depression lifting and real clarity when I do all the self examination that goes hand in hand with the withdrawl.

Hope I could help

digdoug great work! 9 days is a great accomplishment, remember, One Day At A Time! I know its cliche, but its the bottom line, and until you get used to that mentality it can be harder than you think. I have always been told when i am pondering the future and getting overwhelmed to sit down and look at my feet to remind me that this is where i am at. Glad you are doing so well!

msdeconstructed, I too am taking cexlexa and seraquel to help me sleep. I have been sober for 6-1/2 years and antidepressants have helped me tremendously. I started with Paxil, though too many side effects like sexual dysfunction and super dry mouth, but it worked well, I just wanted to be done with the side effects. I also had a brief stint with Lexipro, and as someone mentioned created more anxiety for me so I went back to the Celexa.

digdoug remember one thing, these responses are peoples experiences and they may not be yours. Its good that you are seeing an addiction specialist so as long as you communicate open and honestly you will be sure to find the medication that properly suits you. Remember...ONE DAY AT A TIME!
