Question unusually high heart rate during exercise

I'm a 27yo female who has definitely been out of shape for 12+ years. i'm not overweight and i'm not a cigarette smoker. i do however smoke marijuana at least once a day (about a gram per day). recently i've started going to the gym regularly. i noticed that minutes after warming up on the treadmill my heart rate would begin increasing very quickly and soon reach 180 . i thought it seemed high but didn't think to look around at other people's so just figured it was normal. a couple of days ago i was on a bike sitting next to someone who kept looking over at my heart rate which was approaching 200. he asked me if i had high blood pressure. i told him now and he said that's really high for someone you're age, you should slow down. can anyone tell me if this is just due to me being out of shape? if it has to do with my marijuana use or the fact that I'm taking Wellbutrin twice a day? I've also been told that I'm slightly anemic. I've been tested and tested as not anemic more times than not but have tested positive at least twice.

Re: unusually high heart rate during exercise

That's high a normal heartbeat when exercising should be around 136-164 for someone your age. Maybe you were doing a strenuous work out? Or maybe it is high blood pressure. I know certain drugs can make your heart stress and beat faster but I'm not sure If this is the case with marijuana.

Re: unusually high heart rate during exercise

I have that same problem (I barely move and its high). Mine is from taking Advair though. My HR goal when working out used to be to stay over 65, and I would max out at 98. I got off the meds, and I've been taking magnesium everyday to lower my heart rate (since I don't eat a lot of beans or nuts on a daily basis). Its working real slow. Instead of my HR being 168 when carrying things up the stairs, its now 138. Welbutrin is really bad for your body. I used to take that with the Adderall... It had me looking like a heroin addict (which I wasn't, never done drugs). The weed is bad too.

Good luck getting it down.
