Anyone Not Do Well On Armour?

I've never tried it, my doctor doesn't know enough about it to feel comfortable prescribing, but I've found a doctor who will. I have a friend who goes to this practitioner and wants her to take the drug and she says she's found mixed reviews on the effectiveness of this medication.

I'd rather hear from real people, other than reports, so has anyone not done well on Armour? Seems like most reviews I find on message boards is positive. Please share your stories. I see there's one on here today, but would like to hear from as many people as possible.

Thanks!
Wendy

Re: Anyone Not Do Well On Armour?

I started off on Synthroid and now take Armour. I was never properly regulated on Synthroid, so I really cannot compare the two. For me the Armour seems to be working, but I am still in the process of getting my dose optimized.

Re: Anyone Not Do Well On Armour?

I have taken both Armour and Nature Throid (same just differnent fillers) For me the Nature Throid works better. On the Armour I just didn't feel right and had tons of leg cramps.

Re: Anyone Not Do Well On Armour?

I became very ill on Armour. My doctor thinks it was because the ratio of T4to T3 was too much for me. I am currently on a combination of synthroid (100 mcg. ) and cytomel (10 mcg). By taking T4 and T3 separately I can get a more "customized" ratio for me individually. It seems that I am very sensitive to T3 even though my FT3 labs continue to be below the range indicating that my body really needs it. I still get edgy sometimes on the small dosage of cytomel (10 mcg) that I am on. The cytomel pills come in 5 mcg. each, I am supposed to take two. Recently I have been taking 1 1/2 rather than the full two and it seems to be better for me.

If you are already on medication, and it's working, it is probably best not to switch. If you have continuing symptoms even though you are taking medication, Armour is certainly worth a try. Many people do very well on it, but remember that it is not for everyone. You won't know if it's for you until you try.

Good luck, and great health.

You sound like me. I couldn't do more than about the 7-1/2 mcg of Cytomel. 5 didn't seem like enough, 10 seemed like it was too much. When my doctor tried adding Nature Throid to my Unithroid it seems to do the trick. I have also tried the Armour as mentioned above, but just didn't feel as good on it. Not sure why the Nature Throid works for me, but all I seem to need of it is 1/2 grain (added to my Unithroid of course).
