Re: Mammogram question

Hey..We are finally out from under the water!! but they are still forecasting more rain until friday!!yuck..My carpet is probably garbage..trying to air it out, we removed the padding from under and threw that away..I had to go to the store this morning and get some aire fresheners cause its starting to smell..not a nice smell at that!
Linda, I did a vaginal hysterectomy last dec. Had it all removed, just so I dont have to worry about it all!! I actually had periods about a year and a half after finishing chemo..imagine that!! they started getting a little funky..would have, would not have, spotting etc..biopsy inconclusive...so I had had it!! The surgery wasnt so bad..kinda felt as though I had given birth..it was everyday of a six week recovery for me..
Just my opinion but...please get counselling on that test first..there really is alot to think about, some things and feelings that you may not have come up with on your own..I dont want to sound like a know it all..I am far from that..Its just that I have talked around a bit, and I have a 20yr old daughter myself..and there are alot of what if's to consider...just take your time, before you actually do the test, thats all..
Teresa, right on for you!! Keep on your daughter, fear..its powerful but we need to turn it around and use it to help us make positive choices. Nag her until she gets it done!!
The thing that bothers me the most..and causes me to worry some...is that my cancer was only 5% ER+..and PR- which means that we are not really sure that the arimidex is even helping..but I'm still here..4yrs later!! and NED!
Hey Teresa...my mommmy wont let me talk to a convict over the internet, so no jailtime!!!! lol

TTYL,
cj

Re: Mammogram question

Eve-none girls

Wow Cj you are really impressing me!!!!!! lol Your color is beeeee-u-ta-ful!!!

On the genetic screening the only test I'm having is the hmmm ummm BRCA 1, 2. I have no idea what kind of results i'll get but the doc is looking to see if I have the 2 specific genes for CA. And if so, I need to have my ovaries removed. With my daughter we felt knowing her risk she would be good about getting regular checkups. She has already had her first *****/us due to a lump but it was fibrocystic disease which I had at her age. Plus with cancer running in the family increases our risks too. I made it through one round of chemo. I was actually the one that found my lump. The nurse practitioner couldn't feel it. Will I found out other stuff??? Like what? The one I'm having is just a blood test, is that the same one you are thinking of?

Teresa..............don't tell me that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hahahahaha What type of disability were you receiving??? Did you get a W2 for it? Are you back to work or still on the disability? Mine is short-term disability through my work which I was on for six months and now I am on long-term disability as of Jan 2007. They withheld FICA from my checks but no federal taxes so I figured I didn't have to pay them. I will call the IRS help line tomorrow for sure cuz I need to find out for my long-term checks. Now when it comes to Soc. Security Disability I don't think you have to pay taxes on that but I'm going to ask about that too. Once I hit my 1 yr anniversary of disability they want me to file for SS disability. My anniversary date is May 30th when I found out on my mammogram.

Well I'd better go. Will see yas tomorrow......sweet dreams!

Re: Mammogram question

Hi Linda,
For me..a dr. had told me about some of the stuff they will make you consider..like for instance..if you have the gene, will your daughter get tested? if she does and she has the gene...there will be alot of anxiety for your daughter..thats the part that has me not doing the test..she already knows her risk..and that she needs to be vigil with her tests and self exams..but if she has the gene, the course of action may be different..like prophylactic mast possibly...I am just not sure that we wanna go there..I guess I would have to have some concrete statistics on the braca test. but listen, I just wanted to share my thoughts on that with you..I hope your not angry..This whole disease and everything that goes along with it..and the possilbilty that my daughter is at a higher risk because of me..scares that livin heck out of me..I just dont know if the fear she feels now..because I have had bc, which puts her at higher risk...should be compounded..I live with fear of recurrance and I know what that feels like..dont know if she should..I will talk about this with her when she is home from school..ultimately it is her choice..she is 20..but if she asks for my opinion..I think I would tell her I dont think its a good idea..but thats just me...like I said just thought I would share my thoughts with you..I hope thats ok!
hugs,
cj

Re: Mammogram question

Afternoon!!!

Cj.....I appreciate any thoughts or concerns you have. It helps. And no I am not angry about anything you said so no worries!!! I think I need to get it for myself because I still have my ovaries but my daughter could wait. She is young and has many years before anything could take place I think. I will explain the pros and cons to her if she wants to have it. So I'll just take it one step at a time. I would definitely have my ovaries out (prolly hyster) if I do have the genes. Maybe i'll ****** the web too for more info on genetic screening with the BRCA1 and 2. Yes there is so much involved with this.

Well I had my PT today and doing well. One more and they will probably stop the PT sessions. I don't have much pain in my leg now but still have hip pain but less. And my back still bothers me but i'll continue to do the PT exercises at home. And I see the back specialist the 27th.

Teresa .... I still have to call the IRS soon ... have to find their numba lol. I hear nowadays they don't allow computers anymore in cells I would rather die? lolol. Words of an ADDICT!! I was in jail one day when I was 3 cuz I ran away from home so my Grandpa locked me up Boy did I learn fast lol. And if for some reason I didn't have to pay taxes I'm charging them interest everyday til I get it back 2 can play that came too. They not my friends anyways lol. They were going to charge me a penalty for having to owe so much but then they went and asked if I wanted the penalty waved. Like I'd say no? lol So I gave them my reason why i wanted it waivered and voila! they waivered my penalty

Well you two I'd better get with it. Gonna call the IRS and then do a couple chores. Guys bowl tonite so might go watch them.

Have a super day/nite!!! and take care

Huggs
Linda

Re: Mammogram question

Hi Linda, I think that in your case with the ovaries..its a wise choice..I didnt have the testing..just decided to remove them..the way my gyno.onc. put it was very scary..he told me that ovarian and breast cancers are related..he also said that many women do not have any symptoms of ovarian cancer and are not diagnosed until it has spread, many times untreatable. So anyway you know I wish you the best with that!
Wow so happy for you that the PT is working for you! thats awesome..Funny I went too..my guy was away, and I had someone new..man did he kill me!! I have never had anyone rub my feet so hard that I cried..I actually had tears running down my cheeks...but you know, now that I am home a while, usually by now they are really painful..and they arent so bad..so maybe he loosened up them bad boy muscles in there!!! lol
I am having lunch tommorrow with a girl that I met through another breast cancer board..we are meeting half way..she sounds hysterical!! Ill give you details over the weekend!
gotta make some dinner..
cj.
