12 years ago I went on 80mg Inderal LA for a bout of anxiety. It worked well and 12 years later (I;m 33 now) I'm obese despite being very strict in dieting and exercise. My HR on the drug was about 60 bpm and I don't know what it was when I slept.
My concerns to get off Inderal is the slowed metabolism and the threat of diabetes as I get older. My doctor has agreed to work with me and suggested weaning off. So I did the day off and day on for a week and now I am off it completely.
I caught a cold so I've been couch-bound for the past week and this was the first day I wanted to go to the store. At home my pulse was 90 and my BP was good but when I got in the car I could feel my HR climb and I started to feel in a fog. I came straight home and checked my pulse was 122 but my BP was okay. Am I just not giving my body enough time to adjust? How much time should one give before considering other options?
I didn't really any similar posts so any help is appreciated!

Reason: added info
I too had been on Inderal LA 180mg. for at least 15yrs. I originally was on it for migraines. Then in 2000 I had a heart attack and the cardiologist just kept me on it because as a beta blocker it was also used for angina. Recently my insurance co. stopped paying for it and the cardiologist switched me to another beta blocker, atenolol. I was afraid to make the switch but could not afford to pay for the Inderal. Also the DR said that Inderal LA was being discontinued. Its been about 2 months now and I have not had any problems. Beta Blockers are also used for high blood pressure so maybe you should check with your Dr.
Hey deljo, do you remember how you switched?
Also, If you were on 180 mg (it isn't listed as being available anymore) I'm curious as to which dose of atenolol you are on now.
