Beerzoids,

Interesting! Are you sure there were no positive/negative effects on your health, other than those mentioned? 10 years is a long time to be on a drug. Is there a test that determines the CoQ10 levels?

The following meds are known to lower the CoQ10 levels:

Statins for Cholesterol

Fibric acid derivatives for cholesterol
(Gemfibrozil)

BETA BLOCKERS for high BP

Antidepressant medications (too many to list)

I have no idea if CoQ10 had any effect on my health. What I do know is that many of my health problems were reversed by going on a healthy diet, and during the time of improvement to my health, I did not take CoQ10, or any other supplements other than Vit B Complex and Vit C.

10 years is a long time to be on a drug.
One evening, after being on CoQ10 for 10 years, among an assortment of heart medications, I was feeling particularly bad, and I took my blood pressure. It was quite high. It surprised me because my blood pressure is always low at the doctor's office, so I didn't think that I had a blood pressure problem.

I started tracking my blood pressure MANY times per day, and found out that my blood pressure was reasonable in the morning, but was dangerously high during the afternoon and evening. I started experimenting with my medications, with CoQ10 and other supplements, and I could find nothing that was as effective as my Calcium Channel Blocker, so I doubled my CCB and asked my doctor for a new RX for my CCB.

I tried CoQ10, just for the hell of it later, and suffered an increase in chest pains and heart rhythm problems, so I stopped taking it.

I don't know. I use many blood pressure readings, per day, as my overall health barometer. BP is one of the few health related measurements that we can use at home, as an indicator of our overall well-being.

Regards, have a great weekend!
