Please help regarding my systolic BP. Thx.

I am taking Lotensin 40 mg. My systolic BP during the day ranges from 110-140. In the evening it goes up to 150-160 for a few hours, than comes back down to below 140 before bed at about midnight. Diastolic is no problem.

Is this temporary elevation harmful.... or is the fact that my BP remains normal for about 18 hours per day mean I shouldn't be too concerned? I'd appreciate any input. Thanks.

Nova,

From what I have gathered a high systolic and a normal diastolic can be caused by stress/anxiety and an adrenaline rush. I am no doctor, but that is what I have been told.

nova,

I wouldn't worry about a 4 hour daily excursion into the 150 160 range.
Maybe you might do a little better with a diuretic added to the ACE inhibitor. They work well together.

Lenin, I previously added a diuretic (HCTZ) to the Lotensin. While it did lower my systolic during the day, it still climbed to the same level at night .... so I discontinued it.

nova,

Why not try splitting that lotensin in half and taking 20-20 twelve hours apart. This might give you more even coverage.
