need some helping finding answers

I am trying to find out answers to my mothers death. She was taking two meds that she shouldnt have and they were prescribed by docs. I need to find out where i can look to find out how different meds can affect each other. She past away just in Feb. And she past of combined drug toxcity of methadone and alprazolam. Which neither should have been givin to her because of her respitory problems. Which they both say not to be givin to anyone with COPD or emphazyma. So if you can help i would appriciate every lead. Thank you

A pharmacist may be able to provide that info for you. I wouldn't go to the pharmacist that provided the two drugs for your mom though as, they may not be forthcoming while trying to cover their own bottoms. It is, as far as I understand, a pharmacist's job to make sure that all medications prescribed can be mixed/used together and to make you aware of any potential problems or side effects. I could be wrong about that but, it seems that alot of companies like CVS, Target and Eckerd have done commercials about the fact that they will make sure your prescriptions are all compatible.

Have you considered contacting a malpractice attorney? Or, your local medical board?

I sm so sorry this happened to you. My Mom died from a combo of vicodin and xanax(alprazolam).

Methadone and benzodiazepines (xanax, for example) do NOT mix. They can be lethal when taken together. I was unable to so a wrongful death suit for my mom's death because we would have to foot the bill for the investigation. I don't know what can be done, but this is a lethal combination, and her doctors should (and did) know better.
