Re: Foot ankle and leg swelling

Ask about Monopril. It's an ACE Inhibitor. I like it just fine.

Re: Foot ankle and leg swelling

I had a kidney transplant over 2 months ago and am doing great, however the doctors put me on norvasc after to control my blood pressure - I am also taking toprol xl - which is fine. About 6 weeks after starting norvasc, my ankles started to swell - it is awful - never had it before -

Re: Foot ankle and leg swelling

Kaco,

Just an aside: Since a swollen tongue is one of the WORST symptoms of an allergic reaction called angioedema, if you EVER notice it again with any drug you take, STOP TAKING THE DRUG IMMEDIATELY. If there is any possibility that your airways are getting constricted get to an E/R ASAP.

Maybe popping a couple Benadryl on the way out the door is a good idea.

I tried norvasc for 10 weeks with the same issues. I stoped the meds about two weeks ago and notified my Doctor that I would not be taking this ever again. Maybe you should do the same. I know I would. I never stay on a medication because the Doctor wants me to. I stay on it based on experience.

Ask him about ACE inhibitors... like Monopril( fonosipril). I've been on them 15 or 16 years without an issue.
