Not Eating while Drinking

Hey all... lately for the last 2-3 yrs I've noticed that when I drink I do not have any desire to eat. This is not being done intentially that I no of I am simply not hungry while drinking.

This (possibly) led to my having to 2 near fainting spells & 1 complete black out which sent me to the ER & an overnight observation in the hosptal (talk about embarissin!). I was diagnosed with vasovagal syncope triggered by dehydration.

Any thoughts on whats goin on with me would be great!

Info: 48 yrs old... drank since I was 18 mostly weekend bingin (case of beer, 6-8 shot liquor)... the last year after a back injury, drank 3-5 glasses of wine & 2-3 shots of vodka 5-6 days a week. Daily Meds: Benicar, Crestor, Mobic, Zoloft, (Lortab, Tylinol, Cialis - as needed).

Take care... Dave!

Re: Not Eating while Drinking

Well, in my experience I have never been able to eat while drinking. Thats why when we go out to dinner, we always have a soda with dinner, if we go out for drinkd the only thing I eat is pretzels and maybe fast food after done drinking. I have been drinking since 16. I always just drank socially though, so I dont know if it helps at all. We now (hubby and I) Only drink maybe once a month or less. Befoer it was just on the weekends, when going out, clubbing, bars and stuff.

Re: Not Eating while Drinking

Hey Crooked,

Empty Calories. That's your answer. Food really doesn't kill a buzz, that's a myth. Drinking alcohol is kinda like eating candy or drinking softdrinks, you feel full or it satisfies hunger. And you trully do just get full ususally.
