Re: My First (and probably last) Visit to the Derm HELP!

See that is why I've never (and won't ever) visit a derm. How can someone like that ever possibly understand somebody with acne? They know nothing about diet & are only out to get their hands on your money for their prescription drugs. Medication may help somewhat (I'm sure some Accutaners will agree) but it's not the answer. Your filling your body back up with harmful chemicals, congesting your liver & fooling around with your blood sugar levels and hormones. Here's my advice, skip the derm. Do some reading up on a healthy diet and detox plan. I'm starting to do liver flushing recommended by an old friend who cured his eczema 100%, apparently it's worked miracles for a lot of acne sufferers. Look into it!!

Re: My First (and probably last) Visit to the Derm HELP!

I just wanted to write stating that I happen to be VERY grateful to my Derm. He's sympathic, available within 24 hrs and most importantly....aggressive against acne. I visted him 2 months ago for cystic acne on my chin (at 33 yrs old it popped up out of nowhere from stress) and have been taking Minocycline along with Differin & Clindoxly cream.
My face is almost clear except for some marks (almost gone).
If you find the right derm, you will be happy. My derm works WITH ME to get me the results I want.
I understand the frustration of acne but to get the results you want sometimes you just have search for the right doctor who will work WITH YOU!
Don't give up, find a derm that you like and keep fighting that damn acne

Re: My First (and probably last) Visit to the Derm HELP!

I got really lucky with both my derms. Its tough to just pick a name off of a list of derms that are in your insurance plan.

You have the right to change doctors if the one you are seeing isn't giving you the results you're trying for. I know its a pain, but keep looking!!!

Re: My First (and probably last) Visit to the Derm HELP!

I use to constantly struggle with acne.CONSTANTLY. Ask your doctor to prescribe Minocyclin, its an antibiotic. It helped me tremendously, and now my younger brother is using it (he is about your age) and he is getting results. Also, I don't waste money on those acne washes anymore, I just use the antibacteria hand wash on my face, and it works better than any of the stuff I use to buy specifically for acne. Then I use Stridex pads or Oxy pads after.

Also, I use to drink tons of milk, I swear the moment I stopped drinking milk completely, I stopped getting the monsterous breakouts. I know you are probably thinking yeah right, but I believe they inject the cows with hormones to get them to produce more milk. Anyways, it worked for me.

I hope you find something that helps, I know how draining it can be!
