Coconut Oil

As most of you, I've been struggling with acne. I started gettting cystic acne in my late teens/early 20's. My dermatologist put me on Ortho Tri-cyclen and that kept it at bay for quite some time. I came off of it nearly a year ago and since about December, my acne flared up again. I tried all the OTC washes and creams and nothing. I tried the dermatologist again and he put me on doxycycline and Ziana. I saw no results.

A friend of mine told me about a friend of a friend ya dee ya who used to have really bad acne and she put coconut oil on her face at night and now you would never know she ever had acne. So, with that, I decided, what the heck, I can't look any worse.

I went to the health food store and bought a jar of it and started slathering it on my face at night before bed. I also put a tiny little bit on in the morning.
I've been using it for 3 weeks and 2 days and my skin has definitely cleared up a bit. I have not gotten any major breakouts since. I'm not saying it's a miracle cure, but my complexion has definitely improved. Most of what I'm seeing on my face right now is just the marks and scars from all of my previous breakouts and I have had maybe 3 red painful pimples since I started.

So, if anyone is at their wits end, it might be worth a shot. You are not going to see results over night. It took about 2 weeks before I really noticed any difference. I'm going to keep on using it and hopefully I will continue to see results.

Good luck all!

Re: Coconut Oil

I'm not really sure what coconut oil looks like, but is it too oily?

Re: Coconut Oil

It's very oily. It is paste-like, but you put the jar under warm water and it melts. That's what I put on my face. I put a lot on at night, but in the morning, I just put a tiny bit on because it is very oily.

Re: Coconut Oil

I use coconut oil as a body oil. It has done wonders for my dry cracked heels! I have a book about the miracles of coconut oil and it does mention that it 'cures' acne.
Hmmm...
Maybe I will try it on the few zits I am getting after being off Accutance for a couple of years now.
Thanks for the post.

Re: Coconut Oil

It's worth a shot. As I said, it didn't make it any worse, so I kept at it.
I'll keep everyone updated.
