How long do I put up with side effects of Effexor ? - Page 2

I take effexor 150mg. Yes it sounds like side effects but they will get less and less I promise. My appetite is not all that great either but its good for me because i could loose some weight lol. You really need to get your dose upped. I went up once a week til i was up to 150mg which is usually the dose people really start feeling better. I take klonopin right off the bat with my first dose and I dont seem to have any side effects then. Ask your doc about them,I take .5mg twice a day and yes you will get a little groggy with them but if you stay busy you dont feel it as much. Ive been on effexor 150mg for 5 years now and I feel great,nopanic or anxiety since it kicked in. It usually kicked in the sixth week of all the doses and you will feel better each day. Keep taking it you will get better.

Thanks for all the advice and encouragement, I thought if I had the dosage upped it would just be worse to deal with but will call Drs. nurse here pretty soon and talk about getting dosage upped. I am also on alprazolam 0.5 mg 2 x a day but usually split them in half. Took my effexor this a.m. and right now (about 1 p.m.) I could just go to sleep (and may take a little nap) as we are going to work out later and get hair cut, then onto Relay for Life !

What would I do without you guys ??? It means the world to me to talk to someone that actually knows about the meds/side effects,etc..the encouragement is priceless to me and boy do I need that !

keep in touch please..Oh I too have lost weight which is not a bad thing but makes it hard to cook meals for husband and I as I could care less about eating most of the time, have to force myself..Do any of you take the generic effexor ? it would be 1/2 the price if I would and assume it's all the same thing just difference in price..

Have you tried taking your medication at supper time?

When I was on Celexa I used to take it in the morning and I would drop at say 2pm. I started taking it with dinner and I felt so much better.

Well my Dr. upped me to 75 mg. but will start that on Sunday as have no big plans and see how it goes. I was taking it at night and wasn't sleeping AT ALL so he told me I should be taking it in the mornings so that's why I'm doing that. Pray that I get along with it o.k. This afternoon got VERY nauseated and thought I was going to be sick but dont' know if it was the meds or not (but I blame everything on meds I guess. This a.m. I took a prilosec (which I don't have to take everyday) at the same time and wondered if it and the effexor didn't like each other but who knows. Just SO ready for the sweats to stop, the vertigo, the nausea and headaches all to STOP and feel good again but you all have been through this I know.

have lots going on this week-end and i don't deal with that real well, am MUCH MORE comfortable being able to chill at home but I WILL make it through all the "happenings" this week-end , I WILL !!!

Hugs to ALL of you that have responded, so often when I really need to talk with someone I get no responses so this is great to have so many caring people out there. Husband is wonderful but has no clue what we deal with so it's hard for him and I try not to burden him too much.

The sweats might never quit,I sweat when Im sleeping and I sweat more when Im working in my yard or things like that. I sweat more than I used to. Always take your meds a little after each other. It wont hurt you but its better for the stomach. If you get nauseated I would eat something in the morning and then take the effexor. You might have a sensitive tummy. I was told to always take my effexor in the morning. They dont make a generic effexor yet. One pharm told me its about 5 years out. I get my meds free thru the maker of effexor,my doc told me about it. ASk your pdoc about it. Hang in there cause your going to feel great soon. Everyday gets better. Dont blame everything on the meds because you know how our minds work lol,sometimes we think so there for it will. keep busy and positive.
