high glucose levels driving me crazy

this morning I got up at 4:00 am like normal drank my coffee got hubby off to work. 7:30 ate two eggs for breakfast by 8:00 am I was so tired I could not keep my eyes open. went to sleep did not wake till 10:00 I am so tired right now i can hardly keep my eyes open. I took my shots at 11:00 am My face felt numb and my eyes so heavy and I am really having a hard time staying awake and concentrating on things.
I take 25 u of novolog and 30 u of lantus everyday. This is usually the way I get when my sugar is up too high.
everyone says that My high symptoms are that of a low. I don't understand that.
I do know I don't like feeling like this. when I get like this I can't hardly do anything.
I am drinking plenty of water and staying away from the food right now. oh and since I started taking the lantus my feet and legs swell alot but I also have heart problems , high blood pressure and cholesterol I need help

There isn't necessarily a difference between how you feel when you are high and how you feel when you are low. When you felt so tired, what was your blood sugar? I'm sorry that I can't really help you, but the information you gave doesn't really help without blood sugar levels that coincide with the times and activities and symptoms that you are giving.

You say you take 25 units of novolog. Is that all in one shot or spread out over the day?

If you gave a bit more info, we might be able to help a bit.

Good luck to you.

Re: high glucose levelsdriving me crazy

yes I take that much insulin all at one time my levels have been way over 400 and I just can't seem to get it down at all. the only time it goes below is about an hour after I take my shots and it goes to around 190 - 275 never below 190 though

Re: high glucose levelsdriving me crazy

Why are you taking that much novolog at one time? Do you not take it when you eat? I'm trying to think back of when my son was taking insulin like that and it just doesn't match up. Are you having to eat a certain amount of carbs per meal? Have you been testing for ketones? That could be an issue. Also, it may work better for you to be on an insulin to carb ratio. It may be your insulin dosage isn't right for you and your lantus possibly could be raised. It just really depends on if its due to your meals or your basal insulin rates.

Re: high glucose levelsdriving me crazy

yes I take it when I eat 30 min. before. The thing is that If I don't take that much my level won't go down at all. I can take both insulins and it won't go down that much at all no matter if I eat or not I can take it right now eat a scrambled egg and a slice of bacon and my levels wont go below 300 all day long
