Pulse Pressure and it's signifigance.

I am 32 yrs old, 6'1", 280lbs, and a non smoker w/hypertension. What I have noticed is a wide gap between my systolic and diastolic pressures. I will have readings like...

130/80
140/80
146/76
138/82

from the local blood pressure machine.

The high number is higher but the low number is where it should be. I take Lotensin for BP and I have had 2 treadmill tests, an echo, a heart monitor and they all came back fine and this was from last year.

I have begun to work out like never before and watch what I eat. I do take medicine for anxiety and my health is on my mind alot overyday.

It seems that a higher pulse pressure is a possible indicator of heart disease but can I do anything about narrowing that pulse pressure gap?

I suspect its no big deal. These numbers are actually not bad. Pulse pressure is of concern in the elderly where arteries are stiff, but your are 32 and therefore its not an issue.

I am 45 and my BP can be as far apart as 128/60!!! I'm pretty sure my arteries are ok. So I would relax.

The presures sound good.As long as you arent feeling ill.Alot have a high one.
most run about 120 or 140 over 170 or 180.If the bottom number gets up to
90 or more that when they usally say something.Just watch salt intake. And ask your doctor all the questions you need too.Good luck

Than you for the replies, I did some research on here and it seems it's more theory than fact. Plus last night I went to the local Wal-Mart and used their BP machine...

124/78
118/72

this was at 1am and I was tired but it's not shabby.
