Don't feel bad about being big, I'm there myself. I feel your pain and I hope I can come up with some ideas for you. First of all, if you can get rid of the ketones, you won't need much insulin. I don't know if you know the process of doing that but my son has had several issues with it. To begin with, 4 years ago he had diabetic ketoacidosis and it nearly cost him his life. His sugar was 1700 in the ER. In your last post you said you took LANTUS with you meals, I hope that was a typo cause it doesn't work with food, only your background sugar. What kind of meter and strips do you use? Are you on syringes and vials or the pen with needles? I'm asking cause depending on what it is, my son has went on the pump in mid june and we have stuff laying around he won't be using. I've been regretting the day my son comes off our insurance (he's 14) cause its hard to buy all of this and I know it is. I see what the stuff costs without insurance and I'm thankful we have had it to be able to get at least his pump for him which is the only one insurance will help pay for at least 10 years.
