Hi Donna, I am on a synthetic thyroid hormone (Levothroid) and feel terrific (age 63, wanna' have a bike race with me?). You, however, sound undermedicated.

If you haven't already, start a topic, post your symptoms and also your labs (date, name of lab, result, range). Just because a result is in range ... that doesn't mean your dose is optimal for you. Ask midwest1 about shoe sizes.

Rav4grl
The synthetic thyroid meds are pretty much bioidentical to your thyroid hormone. Often times the binders and fillers are what cause the problems. And of course for some their bodies just don't take kindly to anything being added synthetic or otherwise.
I've taken Unithroid for about 6 years and have never had a problem with it. I tend to be sensitive to meds and med changes. I also take a little Nature Throid (same as Armour different fillers) I have also tried Armour but didn't do well on it. I can't do only Nature Throid (tried it) because my body needs more T4. Though I do also need the T3 but only a small amount makes a huge difference for me.

Thyroid problems and thyroid meds are a very individual thing. Each person responds a bit different to different meds. What works like a charm for one may not work at all for another. If you are having trouble with a particular med it may be time to try another, sometimes that does the trick. A friend of mine did terrible on Synthroid, switched to Levoxyl and did much better.

Things will get better, you just have to find what works for you.
And remember, you always have support and understanding here

Re: I'm sick of my thryoid being up and down

Hello,

TiredMom where are you??

I hope that your still with us!

Thanks everyone for the info.

Really trying not to get into the habbit of processed foods and to many sweets. I love vegi and fruits and grain so I am really working har to get back on track with that.
I was recently in a car accident so my neck is to sore to exercise. Not much energy anyway.
As far as the alcoholic thing goes you can go to another room on this board and there is much support there. It is the addiction and recovery room.
I frequent there a lot.
I don't have my next labs until the end of August so I will just have to wait untill then to see where I am. If I continue to feel to bad I can call and see what the Endo thinks.
Thanks...Chrissy

Re: I'm sick of my thryoid being up and down

Hi, My endo is back in New Jersey. I saw him when I was there in May for a vacation. I am living in rural Northern Florida with no Endo to go to. When I saw my Endo in New Jersey back in May he put me from 100mcgs down to 75mcgs. of Levoxyl. Since then I feel like crap. I called him twice to let him know but he never returns my phone calls. I have been living here for 2 years and it was a year and a half that I had gone without any bloodwork done. I had gone to a Walk In Medical place here when I first moved and saw a nurse practitioner.....I just kept calling to renew my prescripts and they did. I never knew about any of my levels and do not even understand what they mean! The doc would tell me my results...who knows what he was talking about....and then either change my meds or leave them alone. I do have a prescription left for 100 mcgs. from early May that I will fill. I felt better on 100msgs.

Re: I'm sick of my thryoid being up and down

That's my problem. I love veggies I prefer them to meat even. yet I still eat all the food groups. My problem is that I can tell when I'm tired because I have to have sugar. So, I try not to keep it in my house, but when I'm really tired I'll go and get some. I hate it. I hate doctors today too.
