Re: Can't sit back, can't get comfy

Good morning all!

I am too tired to know if I am in pain so you will have to wait and see. I had a wedding to attend last night and it was HOT - surrounded by glass windows and little AC - this is sure to bring on more alien friends. Walking on the hot roof top last night I felt some pains but no alien attacks. Now that they told me to avoid alcohol morning after big events are a lot easier to deal with he he.

My PCP just cancelled my appointment for next week which means I need to reschedule and will need to wait for the ab ct. Maybe he will just mail me the script.

So Helen you actually wanted a call from the MD's office - are we suppose to be on a brain meld with our docs so they can cut back on staff and we can rely on ESP to get our updates? AT least now you get a day off?? OK so you lose revenue for the day but pshaw it would all go to co-pays ANYWAY.

Daisy glad to see the cold is getting better.

NO. Please I am afraid to have individual organs checked they may tell me I have three or something else bizarre. Maybe the real reason I am overweight even though I eat healthy and don't look my weight is that all these "spare" parts are weighing me down......hmmmmm.

Sometimes a stone in the bile duct can mimic some of the same symptoms as the gall bladder-- only it's a lot more serious. If it's a bile duct stone, they can either stretch the duct to let it pass, or if they hve to, make an incision in the duct and remove it.

Stretch the duct..........good that sounds painful.

My kidney status is about the same. Since I last posted (maybe in May?), my mom had surgery so I was out of town taking care of her, my sister-in-law had to make some hard decisions regarding whether to continue chemo for her ovarian cancer, and my sister was diagnosed with advanced breast cancer---- so, obviously, bigger things to worry about than my kidneys. Reading your guys posts, I feel lucky that I don't have any pain with my disorder-- at least one good thing to be said for ATN. Just dead kidney tissue to contend with. Mainly, I just have to deal with the problelms associated with no red blood cells. (see my Aranesp post). But, I was wondering: does anybody else notice feeling lousy after being in less-than-perfect dietary compliance for a couple of days?

YES. A little too much protein and my feet start to tingle (here comes gout) so I follow it with overly strict compliance for about a week.

I'm extremely vigilant about following the diet at home. However, traveling is a big problem. I try to maintain my kikney routine if at all possible, but when I go off-- even slightly-- for a couple of days I start feeling crummy-- kind of nauseated and bloated (abdominally)-- and, of course, lots of swelling from the sodium, even though I take lasix.

I have the same problem. Since I am a business person so many business meals and meals on the flight wreak havoc!

You'd think it would be possible to stay on diet eating in hospital cafeterias, but that is not the case!

No it violates the health codes to have anything edible in hospital cafs. Have you seen how MDs eat! Please - I remember one doc giving me a lecture on healthy eating as he was woofing down a Wendy's Chili, fries and a jumbo DIET coke.

Hope everyone has a pain-free, or at least pain-reduced, night. 2+, have you settled on names for your alien baby?
I am heading towards Maude or Horace. How do you teal if an alien is a boy or a girl?

Re: Can't sit back, can't get comfy

Afternoon all

I have returned. Got the order straightened out (the test was ordered wrong again) cause this time I put my foot down and said that is not the right test. The doc already knows what my gallbladder looks like. He now wants to know how well it functions. The tech called the pcp and sure enough, I was right. I didn't puke when the cck was added and really don't have any idea how much pain it's caused. I ran out of T4's yesterday morning and on stopping by the pharmacy to pick up my refill on the way back today, found it has not been called in yet. It was the main reason I had called the pcp's office yesterday and accidently found out about this morning's test.

No, 2+, I don't just lose revenue for today. I also get the pleasure of paying an extra bonus to the guy who sits there at the desk in front of his solitaire game, answers the phone and tells the customers who come in when I'll be in next. He's the only one I got that I can get on really short notice. He'd be willing to sit there all day, everyday if I come up with enough cash.

I'm going to put the name Vlad up for vote. Seems quite appropriate after your description. When you finally get the ct, you really do need to get a copy and frame it along with a couple wallet size so you can send it too all your friends. I wonder if they've got pretty little announcement cards for things like that?

Re: Can't sit back, can't get comfy

The pain is not bad today - surprising too becuase it was a whirlwind weekend. Went to Police concert last night - out to dinner with my best freind night before - chores around the house - Scavenger Hunt of NYC Friday (don't ask) - and wedding Thursday. [Wonder why I wasn't posting???] Sometimes being that busy helps - it takes your mind off of how lousy you are feeling. I had a partial break on the chores too due to a water emergency in my area. Usually laundy puts me in the most pain - stretching and reaching into the bottom of the washer.

Vlad was my nickname in college so I can't name any aliens that! OK Yes I know this needs an explanation - I was the blood drive coordinator at my college and dressed as dracula about 4 times a year to get people to sign up and give blood. The nickname was settled when I forgot the key to my dorm and had to go to class in full costume and make up - the prof picked the wrong day to bring her 8 year old to class with her. (Good thing I had the sense to remove the fangs first). I actually got so into the role and did the makeup so lifelike that the name stuck. The prof was not mad because we were donated some of our blood credits to her mother who had a serious blood disorder and required full transfusions once a week.

Anyway...

Suzy sorry to hear about the family but they are in my thoughts and prayers.

Helen, Helen Helen - I would charge rates triple to the hospital docs so you can recover some of your losses - or just send them a bill for not giving you 24 hour notice.

How are you feeling today?

Re: Can't sit back, can't get comfy

Ok. We'll take vlad off the table. I just thought vlad the impaler sounded kind of appropriate. How bout Internecivus Raptor? You could call him Ecivus for short.

It was the nurse at the pcp's office that didn't follow thru and screwed it up. The people at the hospital were great. Wait til she brings her puter in.

Hey, I'm going to go back to school!!! Finally made up my mind. I'm going into medicine. Can't decide whether I wanna get into research or clinical. Figure I'll just go ahead and start and see where it leads.

I'm doing ok. Pretty much the same except I do believe I am starting to feel a strenghthening of the muscles. I'm thinking the vitamin d is actually starting to work! The doc must have finally gotten the message and was kind enough to call in a script for the T4 saturday morn. I'm still hanging and haven't lost my fingernails yet.

Glad to hear the pain seems better. How in the world did you manage to cram all that stuff in?

Are you being serious when you say stretching and reaching is the worse? I've been having a lot of trouble with that. Triggers the pain every time.
