Re: Loss of Friends

Come on down Barb.... the water is great. We took short boat rides to Shackleford and Sand Dollar Islands today. Picked up 88 sand dollars between us and a bag full of other shells. It was amazing and so peaceful.

I cam empathize with the first day of school. After 7 years in a long term care facility I spent 12 years substitute teaching. Bless you and the bus load. My sister is checking out two possible facilities tomorrow and I am going by her house on Friday on my way home. Hopefully she will have some good news.

Thank you for being so kind....

love, Deb

Re: Loss of Friends

Good morning. We got back from UAB late on Tuesday and I had a full day at work yesterday.

No real news to report. They ruled out Alzheimer's but Pick's is still a strong possibility. Have to go back to UAB in the next couple of weeks for more testing, then a month after that to meet with the Dr. again.

I suppose there's no need to rush or get too anxious, at this point.

The Aricpet has made a big difference every day in quality of life. So that's a positive.

Meeting with an attorney today to set up POA, living will, etc stuff. Just don't want to wait for the diagnosis to get things started. I guess I feel the need to have some control and path to follow.

Have a great day to all. I'll let you know more later> K

Re: Loss of Friends

The waiting, at least for me, is the hard part KenBob. I hope you can find the answers you need sooner rather than later. In the mean time you are taking all the appropriate steps to get things in order. Glad the aricept is helping. Have you told the girls yet?

Re: Loss of Friends

Hey, Deb.

Not planning to tell the girls until we get a final diagnosis. Just in case it turns out to be something else that may be treatable. If they ask, I'll tell them as much as I know about what it "could" be.

Actually, the waiting is not bothering me like I thought it would. In reality, what difference does this week vs. 2 months from now make? I think this may be my pragmatic self coming out.

I'm sure this can all wear off at any time. But I'll deal with that, then.

Have a great day. Later. K

Re: Loss of Friends

I am glad to know that you are doing ok for now Kenbob. None of this is easy. Many times it is a matter of getting your mind in the right place. I have had my ups and down but I do tend to worry. In my case we totally missed the beginning stages with my mom. She would blame so much on Dad and since he was diagnosed with dementia 7 years ago we believed her. Perhaps we wanted to believe her. It was only after she overdosed him on his meds and he ended up in the hospital that we realized her deficiencies. It has been a long hard year.

Know I wish you the best, will keep you in my thoughts and prayer.

love, Deb
