Re: The REAL latest labs - bummer. Midwest?

aww, Midwest, thanks for the hugs, truly needed and much appreciated.

You stated:
Your FT4 is at the tip-top of its range and your uptake is also high. That's a sign that your body is manufacturing more proteins to sweep up and store the excess of T4 in a move to inhibit some of its action as a natural protective mechanism. Meep's advice was always to aim for free T levels in mid-range and tweak from there. I really think he'd say that your high FT4 is the problem... that it's too high for you.

Interesting!! why do they call it T3 uptake when it's actually storing T4 (or am I misunderstanding, I probably am - hypo head!)?

Do you think Meep would advise that I should lower T4 and try adding a small dose of T3 (armour)? My naturopath actually put me at 137 in hopes that it would touch off more conversion to T3 as I can't seem to take cytomel - was his theory incorrect according to all you have learned here and elsewhere (yikes)?

btw, the dosing is for my doctors to decide - just asking for your opinion. I'm trying to be a good patient...but I am getting the opinions of two completely different kinds of doctors. Ain't America grand?

thanks, Midwest - as always, your advice is invaluable.

Re: The REAL latest labs - bummer. Midwest?

I'm not clear on the entire T3 uptake procedure, but it has nothing at all to do with your T3; the lab person adds T3 from a test tube to the vial containing your blood, and somehow from that they calculate the amount of thyroid-binding protein.

Yeah... Meep might say to add some Armour or Cytomel to your Levoxyl. He himself took a mixture of Unithroid and Armour. I think that might help you, too, but since you've had such trouble adding T3 in any form, I'm reluctant to encourage that. I guess all you can do is try, try again.

Yeah... America is grand... LOL
