Re: Path to Potency

Hi :
My path was similiar to yours for first three or four months following RPP (Open Procedure) 6years ago at age 69. Was advised by my surgeon to use
all means and he meant ALL MEANS to retrain the nerves governing erections and blood flow to the penis. He prescribed 100mg Viagra or 20mg Levitra, the Osbon Erec-Aid VED,erotic aids , masturbation nd anything else to stimulate the nerves and blood supply.I should mention I had bi-lateral nerve sparing surgery by a world reknowned expert and never experienced any incontinence. Also blessed with a patient, persistent, sensitive and eager wife of over 53 years.
We progressed gradually from partial erections with Viagra and manual stimulation which could be enhanced to full firmness with the pump and maintained by the correct size constriction ring to enable successful penetration and intercourse with both acheiving orgasm. However this isn't to say there weren't a few failures along the way. If the erection softened before climax it was always possible to firm up by reusing the pump.
A large part of the success was persistence, patience and never evaluating
performance with invideous comparisons with pre-surgery sex. It will never be the same but different doesn't mean worse just different, fulfilling and more interesting since one never knows what to expect. You're young, hopefully cured of P.C. in good health and with many year of good sex to come.So do the work, don't judge and let the good times roll.

Man, is it good to hear some other stories rather than the guys who were here and most of them were running strong after a month or 2.

I'm 9 months post and not much luck at all. I actually had more reaction way back around 2 or 3 months but it declined to nearly nothing. Hopefully it is a temporary setback.

Doc had told me

6 months- no way. almost guaranteed no erection

6 months- 1 year- some reaction but still not a usable erection

12 months- should start seeing some fair erections but may not be usable for up to 24 months

btw- the muse; a friend tried it and hated it. It did not help him and caused a very uncomfortable feeling for the entire night.

Re: Path to Potency

Sorry guys but I'm watching this area to share info with my hubby.

We are also very curious as to how things progress in this area. Is there a gradual improvement or a pleasant surprise?

My husband is 6 weeks post op. I think he is doing great. Having full firmness already and we even attempted intercourse. That wasn't successful but close. He is taking 20 mg. of Cialis every other day for blood flow still so that is a regular routine. We've become very creative and we are willing to try everything. He sees the doctor in two weeks and we've decided we want to progress to VED and injections at that time also.

Is this a positive sign regarding the nerves or not?

Re: Path to Potency

JJ, so that is a positive sign?

No real erections, but full firmness with stimulation. He is discouraged. I think this is very positive and very early. My real question is, is that a sign that the nerves will respond or are?

I have another question. Does visual stimulation return to normal after time?
