hair loss with addison's

I've been taking 5 mg prednisone and .1 florinef for addison's.
i've gained weight, i feel great, and everything has gone back to normal EXCEPT now the hair on my head is falling out. i'll lose maybe 20-30 hairs a day, which has never happened to me before (even when i was very ill and weighing 80 lbs.)

has anyone had the same experience? i find it kind of disturbing, but forgot to mention it to the endo at my most recent appt.

Give it some time but also get a nutritionist. You may need to change your diet.

Hi there!

Just a quick note. Have you notified your MD? I had a patient who lost her hair when she took prednisone. I wonder if a different steroid would be better for you?

I would definitely look at checking thyroid function. Low thyroid function is associated with hair loss. Make sure they take T3 & T4 blood levels as well as TSH.

Before I got better from addison's I also lost about 30 pounds and my hair was falling out like crazy. my hairbrush looked liked I groomed a collie a few times. It still is coming out now, but not as much and it's more normal
