Finding the right BC. HELP!

Okay...where to start.. I've been on a few bc's. The first one I was ever on was Yasmin. Yasmin was great for me and I was HAPPY all of the time. nothing could get me down... until I started having Chronic yeast infections. And they sucked. So then I tried ortho tri cyclin lo. That didnt work either. Still yeast infections PLUS major bitchiness. Then I was switched to Mircette. From what I recall with Mircette was still yeast infections. Now I am currently on Seasonale. NO YEAST INFECTIONS AT all. It's great in that aspect. The only problem that I am now having is MAJOR pimples. And I've also noticed those cyst like pimples around my jaw line. I have never had these kind in my life and I think its due to this Seasonale. It sucks bad. Really bad. And I've also noticed irritability and moodiness and of course breakthrough bleeding and thats no fun either because the purpose is to not have a period for 3 months. Anyways, I guess what I'm trying to get down to is what birth control would help with the pimples/acne plus with having no yeast infections. Because right now thats the ONLY thing I REALLY love about seasonale NO yeast infections... any suggestions? Thanks.

You could try taking something called Acidophilus and using the birth control that you truly love - Yasmin. Acidophilus is a OTC supplement that controls yeast. People usually take them after a course of antibiotic treatment but some also take them on a regular basis to control vaginal yeast among other good bacteria in the digestive system. That way you could have the best of both worlds!

I actually do take something like that. It's called culturelle it helps build up good bacteria in the system. Also, I have been eating lots of yougurt. So I dunno. I think it does help some. But also it could be at the time i was taking all of those BC's I was also on antibiotics for my pimples. and of course the gynos werent really sure waht it was cause from either the BC or antibiotics so they said to knock out the problem completely and try a new BC and stop antibiotics. Ah...its so frusterating.

Re: Finding the right BC. HELP!

From what I have read in the Women's section and the GI sections, Acidolpholis does not help with the vagina... its an intestinal balancing drug. It helps with the good bacteria in the bowel... not sure how it would matriculate to helping the vagina. I have heard that before, but from what I know that has been disproven.

I use NuvaRing and I think its the best thing since sliced bread. I don't have any side effects, no acne problems... it has a very low occurance of side effects and there are no pills to remember to take and its not an implant.

Re: Finding the right BC. HELP!

I had the same problem too, I was on Tri Sprintec (generic of Ortho TriCyclen) and I was getting yeast infections all the time. My doctor said I didn't have enough good bacteria so she told me to go out and buy some lactobacillus supplements (you can buy them at your average vitamin store). They work great, I take them 3 times a week (Mon, Wed, Fri) and I've been great. Also though- are you sexually active? That could help to contribute to your yeast infections. If so, there are a couple other steps you should take to help prevent yeast.
