Tonsillectomy tomorrow!

God does this HURT!!!
But its not like Id imagined at all!!! I had to stay overnight in the hospital due to pain manangement ( had a hard time with pain when I had my ear tubes put in march) So friday i didnt sleep AT ALL!!! they kept pumpking me up with fentanyl and morphine, then when I got into my room they gave me roxicet (liquid perocet)...So still in pain later friday night had BAD BAD anxiety, I think it was from the anesthesia...stayed up the whole night!!!
Dr. released me around 10:30am saturday and was home by 11:30am and by 12pm I wanted to go back to the hospital,I felt like my throat was closing up, but It was just the uvula *spelling* anyways I didnt fall asleep saturday until 5pm and that was only for 1 hour but did manage to sleep saturday night off and on for probably 5 hours, today I dont feel like my throat is as swelled BUT I WISH I COULD EAT SOMETHING!!! all ive had since thursday night has been WATER!!! I have no desire to eat, I forced myself tonight to eat some chicken broth and did ok with it, Im just sooo weak and tired but cant sleep, minds racing...
K this is enough rambling for now, will let u guys know how im feeling when I can keep a thought together! Thanks!!!

Jen, remarkably, I had mine on the 19th. Mine was done at 7am. I awoke around 11am and had to spend the night in hospital. I wasnt released untill 10am the next day ( which was awful ) So we are going through this just a few days apart.

Im on erm, day 6 I beleive, l must say the last two days have been the worst, not much sleep, even less food But alas, im halfway there

Ok well just learned that I cant take liquid Roxicet (perocet), Makes me too jittery,gives me severe anxiety and insominia, so Now im on lortab...I feel 100% better except that the Lortab doesnt last as long or is as strong as Roxicet But Ill take that over what I was feeling on the Roxicet!!!
I think this is day 4, Had the surgery on friday at 9:30am so umm i think this is day 4?
Its not unbearable at this point, in the morning and after eating is the worst
I still havent had the nerve to brush my teeth yet...gross I know but Im afraid of it hurting, any kind of salt or spices hurt so Im sure that my toothpaste will hurt!!! Maybe I will brush them without toothpaste? Any suggestions?
Heres a lil suggestion to anyone just having this done or getting it done, if the meds burn your throat put a lil bit of water in a cup and mix the meds in there, not as harsh!!
I still cant drink anything except water!!! But I did manage to eat about 1 cup of mashed potatoes and 2 eggs yesterday. Maybe today Ill try Iced tea...for some reason the gatorade tastes horrible!

Jenny, I have some decent news, some people *do* make quick recoveries. Im currently on day 8. I have zero throat pain, my scabs have come off, my throat is looking normal and im feeling great . Days 5 - 6 were horrible but it quickly got better after that,

I guess I spoke too soon about the pain not being that bad....today was the worst day!!! It wasnt unbearable but was close to it, I am drinking Iced-Tea ...WOOHOO something other than water!!! I ate a fairly good amount today, had chicken and stars soup, tried to eat mashed potatoes but the pepper that was in then burned, then I had cream of chicken soup and put a TON of crackers in it and let the crackers get soft. I brushed my teeth today also!!! I used my daughters strawberry toothpaste...lol Wasnt able to brush my tounge real good.
I am smoking again which isnt good but atleast Im only smoking maybe 5 cigarettes a day. I just looked at my scabs and they look the same to me, maybe a tiny bit smaller. I feel like I over-did it today,I learned my lesson...lol
Hopefully this is going to be the worst it gets!!!
