I would really luv to make a go of this product so far the side effects are just slight, so much better tha Atenol!
How long does it take for the Avapro to lower blood pressure? A few hours? A few days? A few weeks? I don't know how long it takes, but I do know that it takes some medications as long as 4-6 weeks to drop pressures. I think I would find out how soon it "worked" before increasing the dosage.

As far as the Atenolol goes, I know exactly what you mean...the side effects I experienced on it were life threatening and very costly.

Lisinopril is known for the cough but I didn't have that experience. I have since read that increasing the iron in one's diet can reduce or eliminate the problem with coughs. (The problem I had with lisinopril was overdose...if I went on it again, I would start with 1/2 of the lowest dose available.)

Good luck!

Good advice Beth! Went went to product website and found that Avapro reduces your BP very gradually and can take up to two weeks to be effective!

Still curious about how long an excessive consumption of sodium takes to deplete from body when you drop your intake to under 500mg per day? One day? Two or three? Or a week? I really have no idea!

Jr,

Am happy to hear you found the info you needed re Avapro effectiveness. Do keep in mind that our motto here is "Everyone's different" so the "up to two weeks" may or may not apply to you...but it is a starting point!

As far as the sodium goes, I don't know the answer to that one, either....I suspect it depends on one's kidney function which can differ quite a bit depending on your age, general health, alcohol habits, etc. Drinking the standard 8 glasses of water/day may help, as well as eating a diet with a good mix of calcium, magnesium, and potassium. The best "help" is prevention, . FYI, I overdosed on bacon, once---we won't get into the nitty gritty here, but I did swell up like a balloon. A friend of mine, who is quite knowlegable (and not into health foods, fads, alternative health, etc) told me to eat parsley because it is a natural diabetic.

I can confirm the effect of parsley. I grow several heirloom parsleys and I use them in everything and I cannot encourage eating it strongly enough!
