Anal Fissures

Hello There,

I am a 36 years old male. A month ago I had to go for a colonoscopy due to bleeding and severe pain during & after bowel movement. And result was an anal fissure giving all the suffering. As per the doctor I started using Diltiazem 2%, Proctofoam and fibre suppliments. Unfortunately, I don't see any difference even after 4 weeks of medication. I read through most of the postings in this site about Fissures.

Appreciate any help.

Thanks,

Yoody

Re: Anal Fissures

I also had an anal fissure which didn't improve with any of the creams or ointments I was prescribed. I ended up having a general anaesthetic and botox injected into the fissure. This relaxes the muscles that are tight and causing the fissure to bleed with every bowel movement. It didn't hurt afterwards, was slighlty uncomfortable though but that didn't last long. I was in surgery for about half an hour and allowed home about an hour later.
Maybe you should ask your doctor about this as it was the only thing that worked for me.
Hope this helps
