Medical link between Lymecycline and Depression?

I have been taking Tetralysal 300 (only available in UK I think?) for nearly a year now (contains 408mg Lymecycline equivalent to 300mg Tetracycline) for acne and have noticed in the past 6 months I have become increasingly depressed - I can't establish a causal event or real reason for this and have heard there is a link between some oral retinoids and depression. Does anyone know if this is possible or if any proper research has been conducted on this? Has anyone had a similar experience?

Re: Medical link between Lymecycline and Depression?

I took tetracycline for about 1 year and not only did it not help with my acne, but it mostly made me sick to my stomach. I do not recall having depression with it, but I have heard that some Rx's will do that. You should talk to your Dr before continuing the RX. Make it a priority...it could be something else altogether, but at least find out if it is your med. If not, then do not feel bad about seeking alternate professional help. Your life can be great!
