Re: Fibro and headaches

Hello, I am posting for the first time here today.

I am on a low daily dose of Topomax, 25 mg. to help keep my headaches under control. For emergency control, I have Amerge, 2.5 mg, which I cut in half, and take daily until the headache goes away.

They seem to help. I don't like the Amerge too much, because it makes me feel strange, but it helps.

I was skeptical about taking the Topomax, and I had initially chosen not to take it, until I realized my headaches were not going to get any better. Something has helped, so I'm glad to stay with the Topomax.

Re: Fibro and headaches

Just reading here about the rice sock. I'm definately going to give it a try. I also get the horrible blinding headaches and am willing to try the rice. When my headaches start i am down for the day, any light just adds to extreme head pain. Thanks for the advice, will give this one a try.

Re: Fibro and headaches

I've had the same pain you are describing. The doctor I was seeing at the time started me on some physical therapy and spray & stretch excercises which really helped. I'm not sure if you are having these headaches from the same source as I did, however. What caused my headaches was the twisting of muscles that came from between my shoulder blades and in my neck. The PT helped, along with botox injections and trigger point injections. If this sounds like what is causing your troubles, you might look into this type of therapy (pain clinic is a good start).

Blessings,

Re: Fibro and headaches

I have chronic headaches also and even have one right now. Mine never go away and if they do it is few and far between.

I just take Advil and lay down the best I can. Mine cause dizziness and nausea.
