I take spiro and Levoxyl for hypothyroidism. I don't take BCP's. I took BCP's years ago (Demulen) but never had much improvement in my acne with them.

what is really up with dermas? they seem like they're just trying to sell their drugs. i mean, i asked him about couple different products like obagi, i even asked if i should see an aesthetician, and he never said anything positive about those things i asked. what's up?

I was wondering if you could please tell me about your hypotyyroid. I was just detected to have it, with a possibility of Hashimoto. Can you please tell me what your dr said about its correlation with acne? And also why you are on sprio?

Thanks,
21

I've been on spiro for about a year. I take 50mg a day.
I also have low blood pressure, but it dosen't seem to
affect it. My gyno said that taking 50mg a day is not
strong enough to do anything, maybe that's why it took a year to finally work. You also have to go for blood
work every couple of months. I noticed that my skin is
less oily and I always use alot of oil free moisturizer. I've tried accutane twice, once for about
3 months and then a few years later for about 2 months, but it made me feel strange so I stopped taking it. Give the spiro a chance, but make sure you go for the blood work. I can't really say that I've had any side effects from it except frequent trips to the bathroom. Good Luck I hope it works for you.
