Confusion and nitrates

My mood is mildlly down. The heart medication I'm having gives me a headache, although less than before, and I find concentration and accuracy wery hard and tend to mis-read and mis-type things. At the moment I also misinterpret things I see out of the corner of my eye.

It is a couple of other things that are really getting to me though. I've been doing a lot of printing and interprest the sound of my printer and random repetitive words. Last night in bed I kept getting random repetitive words and pictures coming into my mind, which was racing - pictures ob beans, brians, the word Berloiz, nothing rational. It was scary.

It that has changed are the new meds -isosoirbide mononitrate-and a flu jab. If I were truly diagnosed as bipolar, I would say I was in a mixed state. I fear becoming psychotic as it verges on hearing voices.

Does anyone else get this?

Re: Confusion and nitrates

asc01,

This is an extremely hard medicine to get used to. I took it for over 2 years and stopped it, so that I could try Viagra. Now I want to start it back. I think I would rather have the extended release brand, one of which is Imdur. My drug coverage may not cover it though.

I can't remember anything but having a terrible headache and body aches for about 2 months. People kept telling me to just hang on and I did. Theoretically I think it is very good for the body. I have small vessel disease and I think this medicine is good for me, but I hate to start it.

It can cause problems with fluid retention, depending on your health and the other types of drugs you take with it. I don't think it ever bothered me. Of course I have plenty of edema, or fluid retention now. I use Lasix as needed.

I would say that since this medicine expands all of your arteries, large and small, the blood flow to certain areas of your brain has increased. Who is to say what this may temporarily cause psychologically?

Best of luck and health to you
