Re: Very important about High BP please read it
Hi my friend ,
Do you have > 140/90 in the morning, afternoon and night?
Yes it range from 120/80 to 140/90. For example, today at 10 AM it was 130/80 and after 4 hours it was 140/90. In winter, it's very difficult to get my BP down . I think because blood vessels shrink in cold weather, we get a Higher BP readings.
How are you doing on these meds? Are they really helping you? If not, you might consider stopping them before you become too dependent on them.
I don't know what to say , I know that those drugs are bad but I started to feel better just from day 1. But I feel that I'm sleepy and I can't breath normally, I don't know if I can cure Anxiety and Depression just by praying or take medications. But the bible say that it's all about faith.
Are you on a low dose Ace Inhibitor (ACE)? Are you on a low dose diuretic?
No, I'm only on Diltiazem. I tried ARBs and ACEs but they make me feel so bad, tired - restless - breathless - dizzy and more depressed. I tried Diuretics but I'm scared because they cause ED and I'm only 25, although that I'm not going to marry any time soon (maybe never) but it scares me. I can go on a diet where I consume NO Sodium at all so Diuretics are not important for me. My problem only at winter, from Dec to March, and I can't solve it.
Thanks for listening and helping me beerzoids

There are also different pollens/allergens in the winter.

If the drugs make you feel better, and they aren't known for creating nasty heath problems, then those drugs are good for you, not bad.

In all of my experiments, in bringing my chronically high blood pressure under control, I have never tried praying. In fact, I don't think that I have ever prayed in my life! But...... I have heard that MANY feel that prayer helps them.

I am on 10mg Quinapril and a below low dosage CCB for blood pressure.

That is a shame. ACEs work very well with CCBs. They target different problems, so there is a cumulative lowering effect.

ED is a real problem with most blood pressure, or heart, medications. Both my CCB and my ACE inhibit me sexually. At the same time, I am much more than double your age, so my problems might be also related to being OLD!
I am surprised that your CCB doesn't inhibit you sexually.
OTOH, have you tried a low dose diuretic? They are reasonably safe, at low dosage. I won't take a diuretic, even a low dose, because of the link between diuretics and diabetes, and because I feel that diuretics raise the risk of strokes for someone with Afib, valve problems, and heart failure, like myself.

I feel that salt has very little effect on blood pressure. I don't limit my salt at all. In fact, I consume quite a bit of salt each day.
Diuretics limit the VOLUME of blood, which lowers the blood pressure. It is a physical thing, that works.
And....... I don't need diuretics. My average Blood Pressure readings over the past several years have improved significantly.
My blood pressure improvements are due to diet, exercise, lifestyle, environment and proper use of medications. Not bad for an old geezer, with major heart disease, huh?
But...... I have finally given into trading most of my libido for my health.

Why not at least try a low, LOW daily dose of a diuretic? If a real low dose doesn't inhibit you sexually, then you could try a low dose, perhaps 5mg of Quinapril, and see what kind of problems you experience?
The best medication for high blood pressure, and many other health problems, is a proper, healthy diet. Diet is the fuel that runs the body. If you put bad fuel into your body, your engine doesn't work as well as it should.
Regards, have a great day!

Re: Very important about High BP please read it
Hi beerzoids,
Thank you very much for your reply and of course for your great help and support. I want just tell you that you are doing a great job for someone with your condition, and you give me a great hope that the one can live a better and healthy life.
About sex and medication, I'm not married and of course I don't have a girlfriend or any sort of a similar relationship. I'm orthodox and I will not have sex outside of a marraige relationship, but I'm afraid that Diuretics would effect my sexual ability. So when I get marry even if I quit diuretics I get ED??? that's the question that I really need an answer for.
About CCBs and Sex, I really don't know because I'm not married .
beerzoids, I want to ask you about the ACEs you have tried. Are all gave you the same side effects?
When I tried ARBs and ACEs I took each drug for few days and I quit because of the side effects. If I wait those side effects may go away???
Thanks for your insight information and please keep that average BP range
Michael

My wife, of four decades, and I lived together for quite a while before we got married, so we found out that we were compatible before we made a life long commitment. It's tough to find someone, with which you enjoy every moment, and with which you love to do the same things, and with which you NEVER get tired of holding, or sharing conversation. I respect your commitment to your culture and religion, but for me, a trial period worked very well.

Is masturbation against your religion also?
Sex is one of the most enjoyable, and rewarding pleasures, either alone or with someone else.

Most mediations only cause ED while they are taken. As an example, each time that I stopped taking, or reduced my medications, my libido increased. Unfortunately, I am still on several heart medications, so, when I look at a beautiful woman, I still ogle, but I forget why!

You don't have to be married, or have a girl friend, to enjoy sex. Sex is as natural as sleeping, or eating or enjoying a beautiful song. But...... I apologize if I am saying things that might be offensive to your religion.

I have only tried Quinapril ( Accupril). My cardiologist put me on Quinapril because of it's lower risk of aggravating my Asthma.

Those types of medications cause increased levels of potassium. If you are eating a diet rich in potassium, then that could be causing the nasty side effects. Also....... did you take those medications within 2 hours of your CCB? It's good to separate different medications by at least an hour, preferably two.
High Blood Pressure is not healthy. There is no choice, for your future health, but to get your blood pressure down to healthy levels. If I were you, I would ask your doctor about a low dose, A LOW DOSE, of diuretic. Stay on it for a couple of weeks, if you can, and check your blood pressure at three different times of the day, morning, noon and night. Then decide if you need to increase the dosage slightly, keep it the same, or ditch it.
Then, I would ask your doctor for a low dosage of an ACE, and try the same thing as with the diuretic. Take the medications during the day time, not the night.

Yes I know that I have to do that . You know in Egypt you can just go to the pharmacy and get whatever medications you need . So I can go and get a diuretic and an ACEs. But I may start only with the diuretic when my blood pressure go above 140/90, which will happen in the next 3 weeks . It's getting cold soon.

Me too, I really enjoy reading your posts and writing back to you. But tell me something please, have you got any side effects while you first started using the ACE?
Thanks again for help,
Michael
