Yes I have read that Zebeta is the best Beta-Blocker in the market. I thought it's the Zebeta that gave me side effects, but actually I have Anxiety and Depression and just started Efexor XR 75mg + Xanax 0.5mg.
Thanks again for help,
Michael

I also suffer from seasonal depression. In fact, I took Effexor for a very short period of time but reacted badly to it. I'm not sure if this would help but I use full spectrum light in the areas where I work at home. I read somewhere that vitamin D is supposed to be helpful for depression as well as hbp. Since I have both (including anxiety) I take cod liver oil in the winter months. Ask your doctor about this though.

I take this as a supplement together with Coversyl and now Atacand (I've just been switched because of the annoying cough). By the way, my first few days on Coversyl, I got extremely agitated and nervous--something that hasn't happened in a while. Chances are though, it was a coincidence since it didn't happen again in six weeks.

All the best.

Re: Zebeta 1.2mg + HCT 6.5mg: my last hope

Mountainrain,

I have depression and anxiety all the year long. But in winter, when my blood pressure spikes, I become even more depressed. I tried both of Coversyl and Atacand, they caused a lot of bad side effects. My only hope is a combination between Zebeta, Norvasc and HCT.
I wonder how did you do with Efexor? it was the XR (extented release) version? I take 75mg only.
Thanks,
Michael

Hi Michael,

It is interesting that we have opposite reactions to medication. I had no problem with Coversyl except for the cough. I still can't comment on just Atacand because I just started it this morning. But from the beginning, the nausea with Efexor was unbearable for me. I went off it after less than a month because I could not tolerate the side effects. In my case, I went to a naturopathic doctor who gave me tinctures of St. John's Wort and Kava for my anxiety. I think that all herbs and medication have potential for affecting us adversely so I went off this too after around a year. And even with herbs, I made sure I was under the supervision of a health care professional and made sure my primary MD had information of all the stuff, "natural" and not, that I was taking.

I am sorry that you are having difficulty finding the right combination of bp meds that suits your unique make up. I wish you all the best in dealing with this challenge.

Yes we are all react differently to the same medications. I just started Efexor XR 75mg, were you on the XR version?
I heard that the XR version is far more better than the immediate release version. What were the side effects you got from the medications?

No, I wasn't on the timed release. That may have been the problem because I tend to over react to things in my environment, things I eat, etc. etc. I'm even sensitive to strong perfumes. If I didn't get hit with much of the medication at once, maybe I would have tolerated this better.

My main side effects were horrible nausea, and at night, I'd sometimes have buzzing sensation when I move my head. On the other hand, I know of people who were okay with it.

What did you experience with Atacand?

Take care.
