Re: Daughter back to testing for Addisons, any advice?

I had the shorter tests first, and they were "normal". The longer one was administered in the hospital. I do not have primary Addison's, but have complete pituitary failure, which means I have secondary Addison's, hypothyroid, and growth hormone deficiency. I take meds for all of those things and am doing quite well now. Good luck with getting your diagnosis.

Thanks for your reply. Can I ask what meds you are taking? My doctor suggested hydrocortisone and fludrocortisone for me but I requested a second test before making the decision.

Re: Daughter back to testing for Addisons, any advice?

I take 15 mg. of Cortef, but not Florinef. I take Synthroid for my thyroid, and human growth hormone by injection.

Re: Daughter back to testing for Addisons, any advice?

I, too, had all the symptoms (passing out, fatigue, weight loss, low blood solium, high blood potassium, etc) but normal ACTH stimulation test so I was sent back to the family dr. Nine months later I tested low for aldosterone (cortisol was still normal) so my dr. started me on prednisone and Florinef. So, don't give up-- sometimes the symptoms appear long before the lab tests show Addison's.
