Re: from ACE to ARB, is the ARB not working?

Clonidine is another drug that will cause a brain fog. I remember being late for a Dr's appointment because I couldn't find the Dr's office which is close to the main street in our little town. I had been there so many times since diagnosed with HBP. On top of it the nurse chewed me out. I was so surprised that I couldn't find the office that I didn't know what to say. That's when I realized that I had to get off of Clonidine & that I shouldn't be driving in the first few hrs of taking that drug. My husband would get so upset cause I refused to sign anything or make any important decisions until the Clonidine Fog lifted about 3 hrs after taking it. The day he had his Heart Attack he went stomping & yelling down the stairs after lunch, saying I had to get off that drug.As you know it was a long battle with my Dr. & my body to get off Clonidine. Re: from ACE to ARB, is the ARB not working?

Thanks for sharing your experiences, Beth and Fam! This is one side effect I'd rather not get very often. We need to retain our full mental faculties in order to function well. A certain cholesterol lowering medication I am on is known to have caused memory loss and blackouts in people. Many meds have this potential. I'll be watchfull. Some people have no problems with any of the blood pressure medication and don't develop any side effects. I think that most of us experience at least some side effects though.

Re: from ACE to ARB, is the ARB not working?

Just a quick update and a note of thanks. I came from my doctor's appointment this morning. The ARB Atacand, my second medicine (my first was an ACE inhibitor), has modestly lowered my BP at the lowest dose (8mg). I am not experiencing side effects, although the ACE cough is lingering after almost 4 weeks of being off Coversyl. Thank you for the support of other board posters.

Cheers,
