Re: I need advice and am feeling real SCARED

Unfortunately Brian I am allergic to that stuff. The lyrica makes me swell up like a balloon and the neurontin, tomax, etc all made me pass out. I dropped straight to the ground and didn't even know it. The only thing that did work was the child's dose of something I can't remember. I'm also severely allergic to steroids. Just my luck!!! I go in today to see the doc. I am really scared, or curious because this is exactly the pattern it went last year when I had herniated discs and a whole bunch of problems.
What I hope is either two things if it is something, I can wear the collar more often, that is something people try to avoid because of muscle atrophy.
I can also have this worked out through physical therapy, or rest and ice, heat, motrin.
Or everything is ok and my muscles in my neck are spasming. He might be able to give a refill on flexeril today.
I won't know anything until I go. I go this morning but since it's an emergency visit I might be there all day. That's what I don't like about neck doctors. If they get an emergency, it really is life or death. Don't they know I'm sitting out there in pain? ha ha cuckles.
Mary Pat
PS as I wrote this the pain got so bad the tears started rolling down my cheeks. Kept me up again last night.

Capt

I am sorry you are hurting here, but very happy you have that brace on and are going to see the doctor. I really hope that he can get to the bottom of this for you today. No special thoughts on what to do... seems to me you are already doing exactly what you should. Smiles. Just wanted you to know I am thinking of you and hoping the doc visit today brings some answers.

Gentle hugs

MP.... Been thinking about you today - a little worried I might add - and wondering how the doc appt went. Please fill us in when you get the chance.

Hoping it was really 'nothing'.....

Re: I need advice and am feeling real SCARED

Well it is a mix. He said that it is normal for the discs above and below the fusion to get irritated at times. That's what it was/is. He said I also have a huge muscle spasm that even he could see on the x-ray, which is not usual. I think muscles don't show up on x-rays but the swelling did.
He told me to go back to physical therapy to have some deep tissue massage, heat, collar and let my psychiatrist keep prescribing meds. He wouldn't even give me a muscle relaxer. I know I'll thank him later, he wants to keep all my meds with one person plus my gp. She only prescribes the provigil, synthroid, and nexium.
So it is not anything major, I am relieved about that, really I am.
What I hate, and I am being honest here is that there is no quick fix. I am still in pain and I want it to go away. It is very tempting to take more than prescribed, as I am still tapering. but I would pay for it later big time. So I have no idea why, but I have still been following my taper except for New Years I just can't take the pain. i am a baby about pain. My psych said it might be rebound pain too, the fake pain thing.
