Concerta?

Hi just got prescribed 18mg of Concerta for ADD. My doctor said it would help with school and to only take it when i go to school. He said it wont be enough and I will most likely need a higher dosage but its manditory to start that low. Anyone know any information about this med?? can you only take it some days and not others? Like not use it for weekends? I never heard of this drug, what is the difference betweent this drug and adderall?
Any information would be great! thanks

Re: Concerta?

Yes it is absoluty fine not to take it some days but a big warning is that you will eat a whole lot more on days that you do not take the medication. The main difference that i noticed in the two is that adderall isnt as well at being effective thru out the day while concerta is a time released pill and it does not cause as bad as mood swings or anger issues. My family was much more please with the concerta then adderall. Please do not hesitate to ask me if u need any more info on this drug
Sincerely
Cailyn

Re: Concerta?

Hey thanks for the reply! um yeah the 18mg had no effect on me and i tried two 18mg pills the next morning before class and the only difference i noticed was my head felt clearer. I wasnt in a fog, but i didnt feel like i could concentrate much more. Do you think i need a higher dosage? how much were you on?
Also did you lose a lot of weight on concerta?

Re: Concerta?

My 11 year old son just started taking Concerta and after the first week we had to increase the dosage from 18mg to 27mg. He doesn't think the pills are "working" but we see an improvement already. He has not lost any weight yet but do see a slight decrease in his appetite. Also complained of headaches the first week.
