My son is 14 years old. He started taking concerta this fall for ADHD. Although he could focus better in school and his grades impoved minorly, he had terrible side effects. Crying and mania as he was coming off the medicine. He even would scratch himself. He is now off the concerta, but barely passing in school. He cannot focus to take a test and rarely ever passes one at this stage. Has any one had success with other medications once they found they could not tolerate concerta? I do not want to make my son a human guinea pig. His confidence is at an all time low and I am not sure what to do. He has taken every vitamin supplement available.
