levothyroxine/levothroid?

hello,
i have been on LEVOTHYROXINE 50mcg for a while now for low thyroid and when i called my dr. for a refill she called me in LEVOTHROID 50 MCG. i also had my blood work done again and she hasnt returned my call and i know she would have called if it was any change, but usually i get my test and go over them myself BUT i just havent done it yet. anywaz, when i picked up my prescribion it was changed. i called the phar. and they said, "they probably didnt make that drug anymore but it was the same thing". i havent felt no difference so it still is working for me.... ANYONE ELSE TAKING THIS MED. AND ANY INPUT??? since they found outi have low throid and i have been treated for it i have been feeling fine OTHER THAN I HAVE PMDD AND I TAKE SOMETHING FOR THAT....

Levothyroxine is the main thyroid hormone that your gland would make if it could. Levothroid is just a name brand of the generic levothyroxine. Synthroid, Unithroid, Levoxyl are some others. All the same thing, different brands.

You may do just as well on the name brand as you did on the levoT, but you could do either better or worse, too. There can be differences in the way you absorb it, or in the way your body uses it. Be sure to let your doctor know if you experience the return of any hypothyroid symptoms.
