Re: Hydrocodone - The Party's Over

Cat, I am so sorry about your mother. If it is any consolation I am going through a taper right now with a usage about the same as yours. Mano is right about getting through this in a few days. The physical symptoms are not really bad. Some anxiety that can be handled with a beer (or 2) if need be. The real pain will be in your heart. Try to pass on being ashamed, that won't help you with the true healing you have in front of you. Good luck and blessings to you.

Best of luck to both Cat and Redrock....Would like to hear from you both when it's over in terms of advice and etc.

Red- Are you just temporarily out or is this for good?

Re: Hydrocodone - The Party's Over

I have a standing script that limits me to 3 -7.5 hydros a day and I take 5-6. So I am out for about 6 weeks which will give me plenty of time to think about quitting the hydros all together. I still take Tramadol and that helps. I had major back surgery 1 1/2 years ago and that really helped. I have degenerative disc, and the list goes on. I can feel the disease moving up my spine and that scares me. I use my pills to prevent pain and also to keep an even keel. I take 1/2 a pill usually at a time every couple of hours. Well now they are gone and I only had 1 yesterday, I do have 1/2 left for today but I have to wait until this afternoon when I have to sit through 3 hours of meetings. Sitting kills me. (I also have an chubby 8 month old grandson who I can't keep my hands off and he kills my back , neck and shoulder, and it is so worth it.) I do have legitimate pain but is it really bad enough to warrant what and how I use? No! So in 6 weeks I will see if I can control my usage or just be stong enough to stop using and see if I can't find another way. Thanks for asking YP. You have a lot of good information.

Re: Hydrocodone - The Party's Over

Cat, I hope you are managing today. Keep moving, you might even ask you Dr. for some sedative to help you sleep because of your loss. That is not too much to ask and it will help with your withdrawls. Take care and know we are thinking about you.

Re: Hydrocodone - The Party's Over

Cat - I'm so sorry about your Mom!!! You have so much on your plate right now I want to say I know you feel but I have no idea the pain you have in your heart right now. I mean it's your mom!! Hugs to you

From the sounds of it you have a pretty good plan set for yourself. I would stick to what you had planned and you should be ok. The part that worries me is the depression that sets in. This is so hard that I finally had to get some help wth it. With all that you are going through I would highley suggest it!! I was taking the same meds you were only I took them for eight years. I am three weeks clean and here to say you can do it. The first week or so is the hardest part becuase you can't sleep, your restless, you just don't feel good but it does pass. In many of my posts I talk about picking my butt up off the floor and dragging it with me and thats what I had to do everyday. Be strong and let us know how you are doing!
