probiotics

I cured my GERD by taking handfuls of probiotics + FOS + Sweet whey powder (more germ food). Also took L-Glutamine and cat's claw to build my GI epithelial lining hence the protective mucous coating. It didn't take long, a few months. Enteric coated probiotics work the best.

I had GERD so bad that I often woke with total restriction and had to fight so hard for breath that I sprayed gastric juices on my bedroom walls. I still drink coffee but NO ALCOHOL, NSAIDS, STEROIDS - they strip your digestive tract's mucous lining.

Real organic apple cider vinegar does wonders, it has to have "mother". Gastic distress is caused by *too little* stomach acid, so don't take antacids or even Zantac or Pepcid, the vinegar *will* work and the bacteria are beneficial.

I was given Nexium by my doctor and threw it away, if you follow the above tips you should get better.

Re: probiotics

Thanks for the tips - and glad it worked for you. I was reading about a "new" type of frozen yogurt that is full of Probiotics. I'm going to try it and see.

Hi rickiedog!,thanks for telling us your regiments, I was just wondering what
FOS stands for? Also how long did you suffered GERD? I'm currently on my third year of taking PPI's and don't see any progress...

Re: probiotics

I had great results with Ultimate Flora, found in fridgerated section of health food store, and 4Digestion by Genesis Today. Cured all of my digestive problems (GERD, hiatal hernia, IBS) very quickly. I was having problems because of a lengthy stint on antibiotics, but I am sure that everyone needs to keep healthy balance, and the drugs they are prescribing are not re-balancing peoples systems, just shutting off the stomach acid pumps, etc. Some people may need to be re-populating the good intestinal bacteria that have been killed off for various reasons. I have heard of that new yogurt someone mentioned, but not sure if it is enough to help those of us who were in really bad shape. I am so happy, back to eating as I please after almost a year of misery. I hope my story/suggestions can help someone else.
