Desogen & No sex drive

I was put on desogen 6 months ago after being on triphasil for years. The triphasil gave me horrible acne and the desogen has cleared it up, BUT now I have NO sex drive and spotting b/f the end of my pill pack. I guess I need something in between. Having no sex drive is effecting my relatioship with my boyfriend!!! The Dr gave me a prescription for lo ovral, but she looked it up in a book! I am not sure she really knows about bcp's! ANy suggestions?

Re: Desogen & No sex drive

I, too, had no sex drive on Desogen. I quit taking it after only a month, though, couldn't stand it anymore. Ovcon-35 was a good pill for me, it actually increased my sex drive. Every pill affects each woman differently, though, it's just a matter of trial and error to find what works for you.

Re: Desogen & No sex drive

I also have no sex drive on Desogen, however because I have such severe depression on many of the other pills I have decided to stay with it..and force myself pretty much. I'm taking Lo Ovral right now and it is now one of my top 3 bad ones to take, so I went back and got my old prescription to desogen. Like the previous poster said every woman is different and frankly its a bit of a crap shoot.

Just to give you an example I have gone through Ortho-cyclin, Loestrin, the Nuvaring, Alesse (Aviane), Apri (Desogen), and now Lo Ovral. For me, and I stress "for me", my worst were Ortho-cyclin, Nuvaring, and now Lo Ovral citing mostly severe depression/anxiety reaction, pimples, and chronic yeast infections (with the Ortho-cyclin) every pill has made me gain exactly 30 pounds (only if I had gone off the pill for 3 or more months in between).

I tell this to the clinic doctors when I go, most ignore or don't believe me (I didn't have insurance for a long time and travel extensively for my job now on little to no notice so I have never been able to get a regular doctor). In fact the most information I get about birth control is what us ladies share with each other on these forums. So the only thing I can say is keep trying.

And if anyone reading this has as many problems as I do with birth control maybe they can share also. I just want to be normal, and I don't want babies! Not yet anyway .

Re: Desogen & No sex drive

Desogen was the only pill to kill my sex drive, I guess alot of people have that with this pill. I'd say try another pill

Re: Desogen & No sex drive

Skye,

I just started Cryselle, which i guess is the generic version of Lo/Ovral. I just started my 3rd week and I feel like I am losing my mind. I had a break down last week and another today. This is not normal. I have not had an anxiety attack in almost 2 years and now i'm having one every week. Is this similar to what you experienced? i am also breaking out terrible. I just want off it and I don't know if I can make it another week. As for no drive, I feel the opposite. i think that is partly why I feel like I'm losing my mind. Did you ever find anything that works for you?
