Your triglycerides are probably high
because of the vegetarian diet. Such a diet relies primarily on carbohydrate for calories. And, as we all know, excess carbohydrate gets converted into triglycerides. The healthiest diet, IMHO, is one that relies primarily on fat for calories. It brings triglycerides down and pushes HDL up. But unsaturated vegetable oils should be avoided, especially if they have been used for cooking.
