Re: any one take carafate and does it help?

Jancie, I am glad you have a doctor helping your with this. I don't. I was PROMISED an appointment with a gastro doc but it hásn't happened yet. So I am trying to cope on my own and find ways to make it better.
I don't think it goes away or gets better. Mine hasn't so far. It is worse than the GERD symptoms. I really, really wonder if the Nexium is making things better for me. Does it even work? How can I tell? I did not have any reflux symptoms initially (before the Nexium). I sure do now!
Is the LPR a consequence or an extension of GERD symptoms? I'd never had any of that either. I seem to have everything now. My GERD symptoms, asthma symptoms and LPR symptoms all developed at about the same time. I am taking multiple prescription drugs and cannot help wondering if they are the reason for all this. Never had anything like that before.

Re: Hello I am new to this board

If we actually "were" in the same boat.......we would all drown! Isn't it amazing that some (or most even) especially gastro's know about LPR. It's certainly not like we invented this crap. I had a choking, coughing spell so bad last night, I had to leave the movie! OK. Must admit that I've been hitting the chocolate (Valentine) candy big time. But, it doesn't seem to matter much what I eat or drink when some of these symptoms appear.

Janice, I have friends that can drink a cup of coffee after a few months but most had only GERD. I'm addicted to Star Bucks and pay dearly when I indulge but man can't live by water alone. Water refluxes on me too!

Re: Hello I am new to this board

This is awful isn't it? I had such a bad attack the other night after having such Good day too. The lump in my throat was all right sided, my ear felt like it was going to pop and the lump was hitting my gag reflux or something and i could not stop gagging and heaving. My poor husband called the rescue and of course the hospital does next to nothing, gave me a cocktail to drink to numb, just made my throat fill more constricted!!Told me not to panic. I said it is hard not to panic when u feel like u are choking to death. Anyway the only thing different they told me was to take 3 tsp of mylanta before bedtime and wrote me another prescription of reglan and a few lorezapam.( which the ent said he doesn't want me to take cause it is just a band aid) it does help me calm down though. I never had anything like this.. How does this just come on like that?? Where does it come from?? It doesn't matter how bland I eat and that is all i eat is bland i am still like this!! My bowels are so messed up, and I am taking the probotics. I don't know what to do to make it any better. I do everything they tell me, no choc. no coffee.. The Dr's don't seem to have patience with me it feels like anyway.. I just keep praying.. Jancie
