Copaxone and only 6 areas for injection

Hi Everyone,
This is my first post to any message board so hope I get it right.
I have had MS since 1986 and went on Avonex in 2002, however side effects
became too much of a problem and I went on Copaxone Sept. 25, 07. Since
I have also had breast cancer I cannot inject in my left arm. I spoke
to my nurse recently when I was in Boston (I live in Bermuda most of the year)
and she said I couldn't use the stomach as two areas. I was injecting left
side one day and right side the other, that way getting my 7 areas.
Has anyone else had this problem. Other than that the Copaxone has been
great, I use the autoject and have had no side effects at all.
I wish I had found this Message Board earlier.
Thanks.

Re: Copaxone and only 6 areas for injection

Hi Pamela. ...welcome to our support group! I am on Rebif, not copaxone- but I use both sides of my stomache as two different areas....I do space them out though, not using them back to back...does that make sense? I do my entire right side of the body- arm, butt, stomache and thigh, and then go to the left side, arm, butt , stomache and thigh- even if you cant use your certain areas, by spacing them out, one would think it would be okay...

I really think you should call Shared Solutions and talk to their reps and double check this, but Ill bet its okay to do...whatever works, right? You have to get the medicine in you!

Sounds great living in Bermuda most of the year.. having been there, I love that island!

Please let us know what else we can do to help you be comfortable here- and yes, looks like you did it "right" Your post came thru as it should!

Hugs
Nikki

I would agree with Nikki. Call shared solutions if you are not sure. The main thing is that you are not having reactions. Nikki had a great idea to space it out by doing one whole side, then moving to the other.

Glad to hear Copaxone is working for you. I'll be starting on it soon.

Welcome to the board!

Re: Copaxone and only 6 areas for injection

I've been using Copaxone for years and I'm glad to hear you are doing well with it.

I can only repeat what's already been said; call Shared Solutions.

Someone there will help you find a way if anyone can.

Good luck!

Jane

Oh, one more thing. I have heard of people injecting into their bottom!
