arthritis after surgery

Anyone ever have issues after a tib/fib fracture repair, later down the road? I had my surgery, with pins and screws, in 1999. About the beginning of last week, my inner ankle started to hurt, on the opposite side of the repair. Then, I have pain when going down stairs in the whole joint. THEN, just a couple of days ago, just moving it around hurt, the muscles on the backside of the repair were SO SORE. IT HURT. I am getting a little nervous-well, just a teeny. Not bad enough to see a doc about it. The weather DID change though-could maybe be that???? My left wrist is popping and sore too, though no injury there. Please give me your experience, years after surgical repairs.
Thanks

Re: arthritis after surgery

Many times arthritis will visit sites after injury and/or surgery.

Yes, the barometric pressure of weather changing will cause misery in sensitive joints. I can always tell when the weather is going to change a couple days or so before the weatherman ever mentions it. Have not been wrong in many, many, many, years.

Re: arthritis after surgery

Thanks-
yeah, my back tells me too! (two surgeries, one a fusion). I am thinking the ankle thing may be more than just weather though, even maybe more than arthritis. I sprained my foot last summer, the same one, so bad I thought I broke it again. I could bear weight okay, but the colors were amazing. Anyway, It hurt again tonight, not getting much better and the weather hasn't changed that much, no more than it has in the past month. So, not so sure. I don't want to see a doc about it, but we may need to check an xray, just to be on the safe side. Now, I am hoping we figure it out. I take enough ultram for my back. I don't want to take something for this too.

Thumbs up Re: arthritis after surgery

Mel

Yes, I have developed arthritis in my ankle and foot after having an ankle fusion several years ago. Take care.
